Bag a bargain at the show’s classic auction

There’s a bumper offering of classics as Classic Car Auctions heads to the show for its two-day sale

In what could be one of the UK’s biggest sales of the year, the oldest consignments so far are a Jowett Short Two and a Morris Cowley, both dating back to 1925, while coming into the emphatically modern era punters will find a 2003 Audi S6 Avant and a 2006 Aston Martin V8 Vantage, and fittingly projects are well represented too.

All other decades are covered between those two and that means regular classics being joined by some rarities.

Old market favourites such as the MGB and Triumph TR get a look-in – there’s a pair of MGB LEs in both GT and Roadster form as well as a 1937 VA tourer, a 1953 TD1250 and a 1954 TF1250, while in the TR line-up expect a quartet of ‘3s’ as well as an early TR6 and a Stag.

Fast Fords always do well at CCA and this sale includes a 1969 2000GT XLR upgraded with a 3.0-litre ‘Essex’ V6 and a one-owner, Jeff Uren-built 1971 3000GT XLR ‘Comanche’.

Very few of these modified Capri MkIs were built and they were offered in three stages of tune, this example being the most powerful.

On the project front there’s a 1951 Lagonda 2.6 drophead that’s said to be ‘mostly complete’ as well as a 1980 Range Rover that was once owned by Bob Marley’s wife.

Tapping into current trends is a 1970 Austin Mini 1275GT garage find, a one-owner sub-12,000-mile example that is believed to have come off the road around 1989.

Competing for project seekers’ attention are not one but two 1965 Jensen C-V8s. Whatever your taste in classics, it’s worth having a look online at the catalogue.
