British Ford Cars of the 1960s and 1970s £29.95

James Taylor’s prolific motoring book output – we’re tempted to call him the new Graham Robson – continues with this look at the two decades that transformed Ford in the UK – the Sixties and Seventies. During that time the Blue Oval diversified away from small and large family saloons and became Britain’s best-selling manufacturer along the way. Taylor delves deeply and authoritatively into how this feat was achieved over 176 pages. Naturally the main detail and focus is on the models that were current – complete with buying tips and spec tables – but there are also chapters on company structure as well as an examination of the engines that powered the many millions of machines. The book is well-illustrated with 270 photographs; a mixture of publicity and advertising shots along with more current images from shows, etc. Excellent research skills coupled with Taylor’s fine way with words make this an invaluable reference work.
