WHAT’S IT LIKE TO DRIVE?

It's almost impossible to find fault with how this GT6 performs and handles. Throttle response is excellent and the power delivery is strong, with gobs of torque available from low down in the rev range. Gear selection is positive, overdrive works, and the ‘box feels taut with a short throw. The steering is light and precise without being floaty, and despite the wheel being slightly off-centre and moving about 10-20mm in and out, these minor niggles do not affect the efficacy of the steering. The brakes are probably the weakest link but they still perform adequately and stop the car without issue.

BODYWORK CHECK

The Saffron Yellow paint is immaculate, as is all of the car's chrome trim, having been treated to a body-off restoration in the Nineties – arefresh that has withstood the intervening years very well. The exterior is wonderfully original, from the windscreen trim and centre piece to the rear screen rubber. Even the small pin that holds the cover on the boot lock mechanism is present, an item that it often missing on these cars. The original steel wheels are well presented and have Uniroyal Rainexpert 3 tyres, all with plenty of tread and even wear. No wonder this particular GT6 is a former concours winner.
