Dorset auctioner’s second 2023 sale offers plenty to please punters whatever the depth of their pockets
Successfully mixing everything from pre-war cars right up to modern classics, South Western Vehicle Auctions manages to achieve that variety without the number of lots breaking into three figures.
This sale stands out for having a trio of Austin Seven vans and, from the same deceased estate offering, two Ford Consul Capris, one of which has been turned into a convertible.
One of the sale’s star lots is a 1969 Jaguar E-type 2+2, an American import with matching numbers and one that has much money spent on it since being repatriated. Other Jaguars include a 1968 S-type 3.4, a 1967 2.4 and a 1968 240.
In the Triumph line-up there’s a 1966 TR4A IRS, 1969 Vitesse convertible and a 1952 Mayflower.
The MG offerings include a 1966 ‘B GT and a 1980 ‘B GT Sebring evocation, and ‘B Roadsters from 1970 and 1972, along with a 1969 ‘C Roadster and a 1955 Magnette.

1929 AUSTIN SEVEN VAN
All eyes will be on a trio of Seven vans following Brightwells’ recent £24,000 paid for a 1930 example. This is the oldest of the Poole offerings, all forming part of a deceased estate sale. Looking good inside and out (including the load area) it could be a useful workhorse that could pay its way.
1972 MGB ROADSTER
Not red, and not on wires, this 1972 ‘B Roadster (which is described as ‘not concours but genuinely sound and ready to use’) was painted in the little-seen Mallard (a colour shared with some Triumphs) with black interior, and its body-painted hardtop gives the car a thoroughly low-key look.
