Pink Floyd rocker to help make Drive-It Day a hit this weekend

Classic collector and Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason has lent his support to efforts to raise thousands of pounds for charity on Drive-It Day this Sunday (23 April).

The Federation of British Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC), which created Drive-It Day back in 2005, confirmed that the musician would act as the event’s NSPCC ambassador, with proceeds from the event (driveitday.co.uk) going to support ChildLine.

Nick said: ‘I am excited to be involved in this year’s Drive-It Day. It’s a great event, especially for those who, like me, love motorsport and vintage cars. ‘Drive-It Day always raises an amazing amount of money for the charity and it is my hope that we can get even more this year.’

The nationwide celebration of historic vehicles will be marked with shows, runs and meets across the UK and the FBHVC is aiming to beat the £47,000 raised for the charity last year. Chairman David Whale told Classic Car Weekly:

‘Nick has a huge passion for historic vehicles and we really can’t think of a better person to promote Drive-It Day. ‘With his involvement, we are sure more people will come out to enjoy themselves and help raise funds for this vital service for children.’
