WHAT’S IT LIKE TO DRIVE?

When it’s up to temperature, the engine runs well and pulls strongly when you put your foot down. The clutch biting point is quite high so it’s easy to stall while pulling away. It’s easier to judge on the move and it goes around town nicely in third. The large steering wheel makes the lack of power steering no problem but it may restrict your leg room. The seats are very comfortable so even over bumps in the road it doesn’t send jolts through the car.

BODYWORK CHECK

The maroon paint is gorgeous from a distance but closer examination reveals some cracking and peeling around the edges of the doors and the rear bumper. The external chrome is flaking in places causing small patches of corrosion. The panel gaps on the front doors are fairly significant and the driver’s door will not close fully unless it is pushed closed from the top.

HOW’S THE INTERIOR?

The walnut dash veneer has a nice overall effect and there’s some real wood trim on the doors in places too. The window handles are a bit rusty and the arm rests on the doors need re-attaching properly. The seals are a bit cracked in places but there are no leaks. The brown leather seats are in really good order and really brighten up the interior. Apart from a cut on the bottom left side, the steering wheel is only a little worn. There are also original features like a Jaeger clock attached to the ceiling and ashtrays on the rear of the front seats.
