WHAT’S IT LIKE TO DRIVE?

Power and torque delivery is excellent and there are no flat spots when accelerating. The steering feels great and the car's roadholding ability is as good as any TR6 we've driven due to the addition of uprated polyurethane bushes. The brakes do need a little extra force to operate effectively but operate they do and the car doesn't dive or judder under braking. The clutch bite point is quite high but the clutch itself is strong and we were able to pull away in third gear without any slipping. Gear changes are positive and smooth and the overdrive function works as it should. The engine displays around 20psi at idle, rising to 50-60psi under load. The temperature gauge also returns an optimum reading and the six-cylinder doesn’t smoke.

The car was restored in 2017; it was fitted with many new panels and new stainless steel bumpers and treated to a professional re-spray at the same time. The Damson paint is pretty much faultless with no rust to be found whatsoever.

A new hood was also fitted as part of the refresh and remains in impeccably good order. The deep-dish steel wheels are in fine fettle and all four Goodyear NCT tyres appear factory fresh. The car is spotless underneath, too, though there’s a slight rattle from the bonnet when running.

The carpets and door cards look good and the floors are dry and solid wi
