Classic Stony creative force David Storer reveals why this year’s event will be one you won’t want to miss

CLASSIC STONY STONY STRATFORD, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE MK11 1AQ. 4 JUNE. 9:30AM-4PM.

From Deluxe Escorts to luxury Mercedes – all manner of motors litter the streets of Stony Stratford.
There’s set to be MGs aplenty at this year’s event!

‘We started in 2009 on New Year’s Day and the two events have been running ever since. The whole saga was started by Andrew and Stuart Freestone and Ray Cobley as an expansion of an event the Vintage Sports Car Club formerly held at Adstock on New Year’s Day: however, as the original event grew larger, it spawned problems so the decision was taken to expand the event appropriately and have some proper control to it.’

‘The Stony events have always had a charity aspect to them, supporting Willen Hospice since the beginning, but leaning into that since the sad passing of one of the event’s founders, Andrew, who spent time at Willen before his death. Since the start of the two events, we’ve raised over £100,000 for Willen Hospice, which given that we don’t ticket the event is fantastic. What we raise comes from both donations from exhibitors, visitors and event sponsors.’

‘There has always been a drive to give the event a casual and friendly event with a low-key atmosphere. The lack of tickets really helps this and it’s always been something that goes down well with those who visit both to display and simply have a look. The locations we use around Stony also help so much.’

‘Initially with the show we were running it on our own, but a lot of local traders have gotten in on the event and typically run an extra trading day, keeping their cafes, restaurants and businesses open, and this really helps provide the busy and friendly feel of the event. On top of that, we ought to say thank you to the locals and residents of the area who are so forgiving when we block off their whole town!’

‘The breadth of cars that show up is phenomenal; from vintage cars such as Austin Sevens, through to more typical classics, rarer models, and even modern sports and supercars. This scope no doubt helps the big appeal we have to all strands of car enthusiast. This year we’ve been approached by the South Leicester MG Club so we’ll be designating one area specifically for them and other MG clubs. Add
