BANGERS & CASH STARS LAUNCH CLASSIC EVENT

Derek Mathewson is planning to bring along classics connected to both Bangers & Cash shows to the new event,

THE experts behind the classic car TV series Bangers & Cash are launching a two-day event at which visitors can meet the show’s stars and cars.

UKTV, which broadcasts both the long-running series and its spinoff show Bangers & Cash: Restoring Classics on the Yesterday channel, said that tickets for the event in North Yorkshire will go on sale this Friday (26 May). It’s being spearheaded by the Mathewson family, who run the eponymous classic car auction house featured in the two shows.

A UKTV spokesman said: ‘There will be a chance to admire some of the cars and bikes that have appeared in previous and future episodes of the series, as well as the pride and joys from classic car clubs from the local area and beyond, and to see some of the prized vehicles in the Mathewsons’ personal vehicle collections.’

The broadcaster added that the new show, on 12-13 August at Scampston Hall in Malton, will include Q&A sessions with Mathewsons’ experts and displays of cars that they own, along with club displays, guest speakers and live music. CCW also understands that one of the classics taking part is a Mini Cooper S that sold for more than £20k as a project, and whose restoration was chronicled in the first episode of Restoring Classics.
