YOUR CARS CELEBRATED

Classic owners praised the variety of vehicles that headed to The Impney Estate for the final Coffee & Chrome meet of the year. Here are the cars that caught our eye…

This year’s final Coffee & Chrome meet was fully booked within an hour of tickets being made available so there was no shortage of metal at The Impney estate.

There was no shortage of variety at the final Coffee & Chrome meet of the year, with everything from aBMW Isetta bubble car to a six-wheeled Volvo ambulance competing for attention.

Classic insurer Footman James said that while this event in the grounds of The Impney Estate in Worcestershire was restricted to around 500 classics it was still over-subscribed, with tickets being snapped up within an hour of them being made available.

Eye-catching classics on show included the sole-surviving prototype for what would have been a Rochdale Olympic MkIII, a Wolseley 1500 that had been lovingly restored after being snapped up for just £500 and a Lexus SC430 that had covered just 9000 miles in the 20 years since it rolled off the production line.

British sports cars, hot hatches and modern classics were particularly well-represented, too. Participating classic owners also praised the free-to-attend format and wide variety of vehicles taking part.

Peter Harper, who brought his 1962 Ford Consul convertible MkII, said: ‘I always come to these meets if I have a chance. There are so many cars to look at and so much variety.

‘For a free meet it’s got a wonderful atmosphere and everyone is really friendly – it’s magical.’

And Chris Paxford, who came from Chipping Norton in his 1984 Dax Cobra, said: ‘I love the Coffee & Chrome meets – they’re brilliant. What better way to spend a Sunday morning than firing up your classic, bringing it along to a meet and then spending some time enjoying a coffee in the sunshine on the terrace, chatting with fellow enthusiasts?’

The insurer is now working on plans for more Coffee & Chrome events next year, and would love to hear from owners who haven’t been to its morning meets before.

Head of marketing, Charlotte Moseley, said: ‘What a fantastic way to conclude the Coffee & Chrome calendar for 2023! While there was a definite winter chill, the sunshine meant that this was a perfect chance to get a run in before the grit and ice take over our roads. A big thank you needs to go to every owner who visited us with their classic!‘
