AUCTIONS
A collection of 20 classic supercars, all with virtually zero miles on the clock, forms part of RM Sotheby’s 4 November sale
A mouth-watering array of barely driven super cars heads to auction at Marlborough House on 4 November. The sale of the Factory Fresh Collection takes place on the eve of this year’s London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, of which RM Sotheby’s is the title sponsor. The lots include 17 Ferraris, one Jaguar E-type roadster, a Bentley Turbo R DHC and a Jaguar XJ220. With a 0-60mph time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed in excess of 200mph this latter has just 46 miles on its odometer. Similarly, Lot 227, a 1990 Ferrari Testarossa, is one of just 438 built with the steering wheel literally on the ‘right’ side and currently displays just 161km. The 1994 Ferrari 512 TR Spider is arguably the star Ferrari lot, however; one of only three built in 1994 and finished in Blu Cobalto with a Blu Scuro interior, it has just 570km under its belt and is estimated at £2.1-2.7m.
RM Sotheby’s car specialist, Will Smith, told Classic Car Weekly: ‘The interest so far has been incredible. It is beyond rare that a collection of this standard ever comes to market. The distinctiveness of nearly all the examples having next to no mileage makes it a very interestingesting collection indeed for bidders.
