UPCOMING AUCTION
BRIGHTWELLS, VIRTUAL AUCTION. 6 DECEMBER
Tiny-mile Ford among the festive deals coming up at Brightwells’ final auction of the year
With a mix of pre-war to modern classic Brightwells’ next sale has covered most segments.
The 1931 Austin Seven saloon might need recommissioning after some years dormant but its £3.5-4k estimate is utterly sensible. There’s also a 1937 Morgan Super-Sports that’s had a recent engine re-build.
From the ration-book era comes a 1948 Jaguar Mk IV 3 ½-litre saloon that has had a recent engine re-build and lands with a £15-20k estimate. It’s joined by a 1951 Alvis TA21 that’s covered 22,000 miles in the last 50 years and is estimated at £4-5k. The 1957 Sunbeam Mk III that’s enjoyed much work is temptation with its £3-4k estimate.
A UK market 1969 Jaguar E-type 2+2 coming from 16 years’ ownership is said to have been well maintained and used regularly, and its £34-36k estimate should generate bidding.
A 1970 Datsun 240Z former historic rally car that’s been re-built for fast road use and comes from 14 years’ ownership is estimated at £25-30k and a 1972 Hillman Imp Super lightly modified for trials and rallies is £4.8-5.8k – an affordable way into motor sport.
One of the sale’s star lots is a 1984 Ford Capri 2.0S that’s covered just 1938 miles from new. Its first owner kept it garaged for 30 years and it comes to the sale from a private collection. We reckon that it’s well worth a look at the £25-30k being suggested, even if it isn’t the more coveted 2.8i. ❚ 01568 611122 ❚ brightwells.com
1984 FORD CAPRI 2.0S
Anyone after as close to a new Capri MkIII as possible really shouldn’t miss this 2.0S, which has covered a warranted 1938 miles from new. Brightwells says that it comes from a private collection and its first owner garaged it for 30 years so its condition is as might be expected outside, inside and underne
