You might think you’ve had your fill of the stuff by Boxing Day, but what if it’s racing and not yet more food? Enter the Plum Pudding Races.

With races hosted by a variety of racing clubs at Mallory Park, the Plum Pudding Races is a well established event – this year, by our count, marks its 48th running. With cars and bikes from all manner of classes and years coming together for the event, it’s always a fun and frenetic day of action with an open paddock to explore. Walk around the track, get a warm drink and the cold and often wet conditions mean that there’s usually plenty of sideways shenanigans from saloons, sports cars and track day monsters on the famously compact course.

Pack up some left over Christmas Day turkey into a sandwich, pop some pigs in blankets in some tinfoil and set your sights on Kirkby Mallory. You’ll want to be wearing your warmest of Christmas jumpers but trust us, as an alternative to watching the Great Escape for the umpteenth time, it’s a good choice.

Museum pulls in the hardy classics

The Best of Boxing Day trophy is up for grabs at this year’s Boxing Day Classic Drive and Ride In at the Lakeland Motor Museum. Open to the proud owners of classic cars, trucks, vans and motorbikes, as well as more recent enthusiast cars. There is no need to book for this laid-back but enjoyable event. There is plenty of free parking for owners to display their pride and joy by the museum and participating drivers and their passengers also receive vouchers for discount admission to the museum itself. Last year saw a brilliantly diverse array of almost 100 cars rock up for a change of scenery over the festive seas
