Noisy start to the new year

Vintage Stony is a mainstay of the New Year’s Day meets and is back for its 14th running next year

VINTAGE STONY, MARKET SQUARE, STONY STRATFORD, MK11 1BE. 1JANUARY. 9:30AM-2PM.

Vintage Stony ticks all the boxes whether you’re looking for an event to enjoy or hoping to show.

With a heavy slant to pre-war vehicles which will be dominating the market square of the Buckinghamshire town, there will also be an area set aside for post-war classics, so there’s set to be plenty to see. Entry to the event – and displaying a car – is free though you can donate to Willen Hospice if you are displaying.

Vintage and Classic Stony committee chairman, David Storer, told us: ‘We are proud that the Classic and Stony Festivals have managed to raise more than £100,000 for charity since it they were first run thanks to the generosity of the Festival’s local sponsors and members of public. We are looking forward to an even more successful event in a few week’s time.’

If you’re looking to show, then you could be in with a chance of opening 2024 with a rosette because there’s a series of judging categories – spirit of the show, best in show, best British car, ladies choice, best motorcycle, and the sponsor’s choice presented by Cherished Vehicle Insurance Services. A limited run – just 100 – of Vintage Stony enamel pins will also be on sale along with a second enamel collectors’ badge in memory of the show’s dear friend and supporter, Simon Diffey. All money collected for these badges will be donated to the Simon Diffey Heritage Motorsport Apprentice Award.

All in, there is plenty to be enjoyed at this free-flowing event including a moment of noise for the late Simon Diffey and Richard Odell who were both close to the event. So get ready for a barage of blasting exhausts at noon – a brilliant way to ring in the new year.
