A Mini run’s 25th anniversary outing has proven to be a hit with classic owners from around the UK – despite lower Welsh speed limits being given a cautious welcome.

More than 180 Minis – encompassing both BMC-designed classics and their BMW-sired successors – took part in this year’s Wirral to Llandudno Mini Run, which for the first time included sections with a 20mph speed limit, following a decision to lower most residential speed limits last year.

The run from Bromborough in Merseyside to the North Wales coast also took in a new route this year, with event organiser Wirral Minis saying that fewer stretches of the A55 expressway were used, with more sections along the slower rural and residential roads.

Club chairman, Mark Steward, said: ‘A few people were frustrated with areas where the speed limit changed to 20mph and then go back up again, and in some places it didn’t seem to make a lot of sense, so we had to be mindful. ‘It
