More than 100 classic clubs are already set to mark significant anniversaries at this summer’s packed Silverstone Festival

Organisers of this year’s Silverstone Festival have revealed that more than 100 classic car clubs have already signed up to be part of the special infield showcases.

Many of the participating clubs will be celebrating milestone automotive anniversaries at the 23-25 August event, with Marcos, Maserati, Ford’s Mustang and the Mazda MX-5 among others in the spotlight.

The show’s organiser is appealing for more clubs to sign up for the three-day event, which includes on-track parades of cars owned by club members to highlight significant motoring anniversaries.

Event director Nick Wigley said: ‘The incredible turnout of wonderful classic cars is, in every sense, right at the heart of the Festival. The superb displays never fail to provide a brilliant canvas of motoring history while the deep-seated enthusiasm and passion shared by their loving owners always creates a true community vibe among such an impressive gathering of like-minded car lovers.’

Automotive landmarks being celebrated this year include 60 years of the Ford Mustang and 110 years of Maserati. It was a decade ago when, to mark the Italian marque’s centenary, the late Sir Stirling Moss led a parade on track driving one of the revered company’s seminal 250F racers and Maserati Club UK has more plans for 2024. The Marcos Owners’ Club and Mk1 Golf Owners’ Club – both with significant birthdays to honour in 2024 – are also making their first appearances at the Festival.

Other notable anniversaries being celebrated include 75 years of Abarth, 50 years of the Triumph TR7, 30 years of the Mazda MX-5 Owners
