A new record for the Race Retro ‘Pride of Paddock’ competition plus two famous rallying faces sees the show get set for a cracking weekend

This year’s Race Retro is getting set to host its largest Pride of the Paddock yet – a staggering 20 finalists have been selected with the overall winner to be announced at the show.

Mark Taylor, Head of Motorsports at Reis, commented: ‘We are excited to see the most diverse range of vehicles in the history of Race Retro’s Pride of the Paddock, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the event. This will be a centrepiece of attention and we’re proud to support this event once again.’

2023’s entrants were a broad church, but the title went to Richard Barber’s 1966 Ford Anglia 105E that had been modified for hill climb and sprint events.

This year’s bumper span of entrants is just as brilliantly diverse; the oldest entrant in the group is Andy Lowe’s 1930 supercharged Austin Seven that he bought for just £25 in 1978.

1960s entrants cover all aspects of the size range, from a 1964 Austin Mini Cooper S with a healthy rally career to its name going against Derek Drinkwater’s 1961 Chevrolet Impala, an FIA approved recreation of the car that Dan Gurney drove at Silverstone in the 1961 British Saloon Car Championship.
