Rally the Globe’s award-winning Generations Rally returned for a third time on 22-24 March, attracting its highest number of entrants to date and an all-female crew took top honours in a category for the first time, with Charlotte de Montmorency and Philippa Bailey winning the Pre-War Class in their 1938 Triumph Dolomite.

The rally kicked off in Cheshire’s Carden Park Hotel and Spa on the Friday with scrutineering and registration followed by a full afternoon’s route, which was designed to introduce newcomers to the ideas of regularity sections and tests.

The teams headed into Wales the following day, driving through the Clywdian and Cambrian mountains and ended on day three with a total of four tests and three regularities in the space of 95 miles.

The winners were announced towards the end of the day with a delighted Charlotte de Montmorency and Philippa Bailey scooping top honours in the pre-war category and Jack and Simon Brien winning the classics category in their 1972 Porsche 911.

Philippa said: ‘We’ve had class wins before but this is our first overall and it’s a big first for me and Charlotte. It’s been such a beautifully run event. We didn’t do anything remarkable; we were consistent and kept it steady and simple. We didn’t overcomplicate anything and tried to have a laugh along the way.’

The Rally the Globe team has three more events lined up for 2024 with the Vintage Shamrock (6-9 May) organised in partnership with Irish Racing Green, followed by two continental tours with the Carrera Bavaria on 16-26 June and the Austria to Athens Challenge on 29 September- 13 October.
