DRIVE-IT DAY SCRAMBLE, BICESTER HERITAGE, 21 APRIL

Springtime sunshine cut through the brisk winds and brought out the crowds at Bicester’s Spring Scramble. 8500 visitors flooded the historic site with their classics, filling the grassy flank of the airfield. Beyond being a brilliant gathering, there was plenty to see and take in once in, too.

Hagerty Insurance celebrated its 40th birthday with a new top-50 value list, the RADwood Index, tied in with its Radwood event, which honours cars and culture from the 1980s and into the 1990s.

Lotus displayed its 66 Can-Am project, too – it may have been a racer that never was but it has now seen the light of day having been conceived last year in celebration of the marque’s 75th anniversary.

Suzuki showcased its Swift hatchback, which is about to enter its sixth iteration; five previous examples of the model dating back to when it was known as the Suzuki Cultus in its domestic market came together.

Graham Hill’s Jaguar E-type also made an appearance; it was the car that won the first ever race appearance of the now-iconic model.

With plenty more to see for modern fans, there was no room for disappointment at Bicester last weekend.

Classics of all denominations filled the lawns and paddocks of the Bicester Heritage site.
