I don’t know about you but I have a long-running addiction to the grand tradition of the ‘Best of the Year’ list, whether it be eagerly dashing to the newsagents in my teenage years to grab the inkies for their annual countdowns or latterly putting together Classic Pop’s own round-up of musical highlights. If there’s anything that you’ve missed across the last 12 months, check out our latest verdicts safe in the knowledge there’s enough to get your teeth into before our next issue arrives. The phrase ‘Tales of the Unexpected’ seems to sum up 2022 rather nicely as surprises came thick and fast across the year, whether it be the return of Tears For Fears and a-ha, or Suede knocking out what is arguably the album of their career with Autofiction. As you’ll see from our Year Ahead feature, there’s plenty of exciting prospects on the horizon for 2023 – it bodes well for another stellar 12 months in Classic Pop land.
