First the bad news: this is the final issue of Clay Shooting magazine. The good news: we are merging with Sporting Gun – where you can continue to get your fix of clay shooting news, tips and kit reviews, and follow many of your favourite contributors, including Becky McKenzie, Matt Hance, Richard Atkins, Jasper Fellows and James Simon.

If you have a subscription to Clay Shooting magazine, it will automatically be transferred to Sporting Gun, so you don’t have to do anything – your subscription will continue with the issue dated June 2021, which is on sale from 4 May. We’re writing to subscribers to confirm the details, but if you have any queries you can contact the team on 0330 333 1113, or email help@magazinesdirect.co.uk.

Clay Shooting editor James Marchington said “I’ve enjoyed working on the magazine over the past three years, and I am hugely grateful to our readers, advertisers and industry figures for their loyalty and enthusiasm. This is the end of an era for a magazine that I’ve had a close association with since the early 1990s. I’m sad to see it go as a standalone print magazine, but I know my colleague Matt Clark will do a grand job of covering clay shooting as editor of Sporting Gun. Meanwhile I will still be working within the sport, and look forward to catching up with you all as we get back out shooting this spring and summer.”

The magazine’s publishers say “This was not an easy decision for us to make and we want you to know we did everything possible to continue publishing it; however, it was not viable for us to do so. Nevertheless, we will continue to bring you the same content you love from the same great contributors in the new magazine.”

“Sporting Gun has long been established as the leading monthly magazine for shotgun shooters, and in the past was the first choice for clay shots, as well as for game and rough shooters. It’s fitting that our best clay shooting content and contributors will continue within the pages of Sporting Gun, keeping you abreast of all the latest developments in guns, cartridges and kit as well as helping you to keep improving your scores and get the most from your sport.”
