While he’s currently out of hospital at the family’s London home, he still requires round-the-clock care. Earlier this month, Kate spoke out about the “tricky 48 hours” she’d endured after he’d fallen out of his wheelchair.

Now insiders say that the three-year milestone will be an emotional time for the GMB presenter, who married Derek in 2005.

A source says, “These have been, without a doubt, the hardest and most challenging years of Kate’s life and the anniversary is going to be very emotional. It’s heartbreaking for her to think back to life before. But although it’s been a total nightmare, Kate feels proud that throughout it she’s found a strength she never knew she had. She’s managed to tackle it all with courage and hope and now has a new perspective on life. With an amazing support network of family and friends around her, a supportive team of colleagues, and her love of gardening, she’s slowly found the tools she’s needed to get through it all.”
