She’s already an amazing mum toher daughter Polly, six, and four-year-old son Ritchie. And now Amy Childs has added to her brood, after welcoming twins Billy River and Amelia Mae last month. But while she is, of course, overjoyed with her new arrivals – who she shares with fiancé Billy Delbosq – the reality TV personality, 32, tells Closer that the “traumatic” births were far from plain sailing.

Originally planning to have a natural birth, Amy reveals she was rushed in for an emergency C-Section at 37 weeks after suffering from a prolapsed umbilical cord.

“I got induced on the Wednesday and by Thursday I was in labour – everything was going to plan,” explains Amy. “But then I was in labour for nearly two days, and eventually they broke my waters for me. The cord had prolapsed and was coming away, which is really rare. If my waters had broken at home, I don’t know what would have happened.”

Within five minutes of realising there was a problem, staff at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford had delivered both Amy’s twins – son Billy at 7.04pm, and daughter Amelia, or “Millie”, a minute later. “That is how amazing our NHS is,” Amy adds, gratefully.

But Amy assures us, “He’s fine now and putting on weight – he is really chunky! He’s probably so needy because of his time away from me during those first few days, he’s like, ‘I miss my mum!’

“Everything is OK. But at the time… I can’t sit here and say it was all fine. We had an awful and traumatic time.”

As for Amy’s own health, the former beautician admits she is considering seeing a counsellor after the distressing experience, at the suggestion of her midwife.

“We’ll see,” she says. “Your hormones are all over the place and your emotions are so high. Physically, I did push myself. I am sore and I still have my scar, but it is getting better. I really rested for the first four weeks – Bill has been amazing, especially being a first-time dad.”

Describing her experience having her first two children as “good births”, Amy first became a mum when she welcomed Polly in May 2017, after a fling with her on/off boyfriend, builder Bradley Wright. The pair had previously been together for two years until 2015, when Amy finished the relationship after Bradley was jailed for
