Insiders say Holly Willoughby is considering her future after her ‘year from hell’

She’s been holed up at her London home since her shock departure from This Morning following the horrifying news of an alleged murder and kidnap plot against her earlier this month.

And while Holly Willoughby, 42, takes time out from the spotlight to weigh-up options for her next move, insiders say she’s considering a potential move to the US with her TV producer husband, Dan Baldwin, 48, and their three children – sons Harry, 13, and Chester, eight, and 11-year-old daughter, Belle.

A source says, “Holly’s always loved the idea of spending some time abroad – not only for a career shake-up, but also to give the children that experience of living in a new country.

“With everything that has happened recently, she has told pals it may be the perfect time to do it – and make the jump after years of having it swirling around in the back of her head as a distant dream.

“She’s felt like a bit of a recluse in London, feeling like a prisoner in her own home. She’s hated losing her freedom. Going to the US would definitely provide an escape. She’s desperate to start leading a normal life again.”

Her decision came months after her former best friend and co-star Phillip Schofield ditched the sofa and admitted to an “unwise but not illegal” relationship with a much younger male colleague, which left Holly’s career hanging on the brink – although there was no suggestion she knew about it.

The pair also received a fierce backlash for “queue gate” last year, where they faced accusations they’d “jumped the queue” at the late Queen’s lying-in-state.

While Holly appeared to carry on as normal when she returned from her summer break in September – alongside the likes of Josie Gibson, Alison Hammond and Craig Doyle as her rotating co-hosts – she announced her decision to leave earlier this month after the dramatic allegations of a kidnap and murder plot against her, saying she had to “make this decision for me and my family”.

Will Holly take her lifestyle brand to the US?

BRAND EXTENSION?

Initially, reports claimed that the BBC were hoping to nab Holly with a “golden handcuffs” deal – but last week it emerged that the broadcaster had apparently backed out of the talks.
