KATE FEARS HARRY & ME GHAN WILL ‘GATECRASH’ CHRISTMAS FESTIVITIES

At a time for family and forgiveness, insiders say Kate Middleton has been left ‘furious’ at the prospect of spending the season with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Sandringham

Following their “emotional” call to King Charles on his 75th birthday earlier this month, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are believed to have extended yet another olive branch after friends last week revealed that the couple are hoping to spend Christmas with the Royal Family.

A source reveals, “I can’t imagine the Sussexes would decline an invitation to spend time with His Majesty. As of yet, there have not been any invitations [to Harry and Meghan] for the holidays.”

But now a source says that with the Sussexes’ Christmas invite hanging in the balance, one person feeling anxious about their return is Kate Middleton, who our insider says is worried at the prospect of having to face Harry and Meghan.

Meghan has teased “exciting” new projects

The source says, “Kate’s really anxious about the possibility of Harry and Meghan being invited over for Christmas and has made no secret of the fact that she’s also concerned they may effectively try to gatecrash the family festivities.

UNSETTLED

“She wouldn’t put it past Meghan to just show up uninvited and the last thing Kate wants after everything they’ve endured is a big showdown over Christmas –especially in front of the children. If that happened, she’d be furious.

“The plans are all so up in the air and they’re not sure what’s happening, which is naturally creating a lot of unsettled feelings and Kate is feeling stressed and on edge about it all.”

The last time the couple spent Christmas in the UK was in 2018, the year of their wedding – when Meghan, 42, and Harry, 39, were part of the so-called “Fab Four” with Kate and William, both 41. Pictures of the pair walking side-by-side with the now Prince and Princess of Wales made headlines nationwide.

However, a year on in January 2020, Meghan and Harry sensationally quit their life as working royals – a decision that was driven by their allegations of bullying and racism at the heart of the family fold.

Meghan –now mum to Archie, four, and two-year-old Lilibet –has not returned to the UK since the Queen’s funeral last September, and Harry is believed not to have spoken to his father for over six months before his surprise birthday call last week.

But while Harry appears to be trying to thaw frosty relations, royal insiders have said William was left feeling “betrayed and sad” following the revelations his younger brother made in his January memoir, Spare. In the book, Harry alleged that William had physically assaulted him, and described him as his “arch nemesis”.
