Insiders say Kate Garraway has been left heartbroken over husband Derek Draper’s suffering. Now, the GMB star is ‘determined’ to make Christmas a day to remember
With the countdown to Christmas having truly begun, Kate Garraway bravely revealed last week that her husband Derek Draper is back in hospital. And while the Good Morning Britain presenter, 56, described herself as being thrown back into the “visiting game” as Derek, 56, undergoes the second part of a procedure that she hopes will aid his movement, a source tells Closer that Kate is desperate to have her husband home for Christmas Day.

The insider says, “It’s awful for her and the children to see Derek back in hospital, but they are desperately hoping it won’t be for long.
“Kate, as ever, is doing her best to try to work through it, but it’s been really tough. It’s hard enough juggling work and being amum, but now she has to factor in hospital visits, too. It’s been so emotional, but she’s leaning on her friends and loved ones, as well as her colleagues. She wants Derek home ASAP –she’s said she really needs him back with them for 25 December for it to feel like a proper Christmas.”
Kate –who shares children Darcey, 17, and William, 14, with Derek –has been navigating their family through incredibly tough times since her husband’s Covid diagnosis in 2020, which led to long-term complications and Derek needing around-the-clock care.
