"Meghan wants to be Queen"

"Kate has everything she wants". Their four-year feud reached a peak this month, now author Tom Bower tells Closer how Meghan’s fury is all down to her jealousy of Kate as future Queen

The passive tension and ill-feeling between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton reached fever pitch this year in a succession of bombshell revelations.

And last week, just hours after the Princess of Wales released her charity video on social media showing her three children delivering gifts to aUK baby bank, Meghan debuted her own film for her and Prince Harry’s Archewell Foundation – something that saw her accused on social media of trying to overshadow Kate.

Now, following the release of the controversial book EndGame, by author and “Meghan’s mouthpiece” Omid Scobie last month – which has been condemned for its constant “attacks” on Kate, 41 – a royal insider reveals how Meghan is driven by jealousy.

In an exclusive interview with Closer, Tom Bower, author of Revenge: Meghan, Harry And The War Between The Windsors, says, “Kate is glowing, Kate is successful, Kate is popular – everything that Meghan wanted.

“Meghan wanted everything her way [but] there’s only one way and that’s the royal way, and Meghan didn’t want to accept that.”

And Tom says she had one particular goal. He adds, “Meghan wants to be the Queen – she doesn’t want to be number five in succession [with Harry]. So I think Kate was quite right to be suspicious of that.

JAIL SENTENCE

“That’s how we know that it all [Omid Scobie’s book and the timing of Meghan’s charity video] is inspired by Meghan. She just thinks that she would have got her way if Kate hadn’t been there.”

And while royal tradition and lineage dictates that Meghan, 42, was never going to be Queen, royal expert Katie Nicholl previously revealed how the Duchess of Sussex – a title that she swiftly had emblazoned onto the side of a Dior handbag in 2021 – was determined to be the “Queen Bee” of The Firm.

She previously said, “There were culture clashes, there were personality clashes, but I think, ultimately, Meghan did want to be Queen Bee.”

And Tom says that former actress Meghan – who was comfortable amid the luxury and glamour of Hollywood –felt that the four-bedroomed Frogmore Cottage in Windsor was like a “jail sentence”.

He says, “She didn’t realise when she hooked up with Harry that he didn’t have that much money and wasn’t going to live in a mega palace.

“They didn’t have the pressure [to make a huge income while in the UK] when they didn’t have a very large house overlooking the pacific. Meghan never wanted to live in a small house in England. For her, Frogmore was like a jail sentence.”
