Next week will mark a year since Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, dropped a bombshell on the monarchy. But many have questioned why Meghan Markle – who has had no qualms in publicly slating the Royal Family to the world – hasn’t released her own explosive tell-all.

pipped at the post by her alleged “cheerleader”, royal author Omid Scobie, his book, Endgame, backfired spectacularly for the Sussexes when questions were raised as to why they hadn’t denounced the book – which has been labelled as a “gratuitous” attack on Kate Middleton.

The allegations in the book accuse the Royal Family of treating Kate, who will celebrate her 42nd birthday next week, like a child, and Scobie labels her as a “Stepford-like royal” and a “voiceless symbol”. Scobie also writes how mum-of-three Kate, who is first in line to become the next Queen, is so fearful of “The Firm” that she does nothing more than “grinning photo ops”.

But now royal author Tom Bower says that Meghan has been “bruised” by the backlash – which is likely to force her into penning her own tell-all memoir. He says, “As she feels more and more bruised as the year goes on, Meghan is going to want to have her say. Whereas Scobie was a disaster, she’s going to want to correct the impressions [that she collaborated on the book]. Meghan and Harry’s desperation will only get worse in the new year.”

However, Tom says that while Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, are still yet to speak out about the book, Scobie has also raised questions over Meghan’s allegation of racism against the royals.

The initial allegation came from Meghan during the couple’s interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, during which she accused unnamed senior royals of racist bullying. Through a publishing error, the Dutch version of Scobie’s book alleges that the senior royals who were accused of discussing the colour of Meghan and Harry’s son Archie’s skin ahead of his birth in 2019 were King Charles and Kate.

Tom says, “There’s no doubt in my mind that she fed him those two names. But it didn’t make sense. She told Oprah that there was one conversation and there was no conversation between Charles, Kate and Harry right at the beginning of their relationship. It was Charles and Camilla.
