ROYAL EXPERT: ‘Meghan & Harry are more desperate than ever!’

After losing their Spotify deal and struggling to get projects off the ground in 2023, royal author Tom Bower warns that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Hollywood dream is in jeopardy

The Sussexes are said to be feeling the strain

It’s been a year since Prince Harry’s explosive memoir, Spare, was released, sparking yet another series of bombshells for the royal family as he detailed the traumas that both he and wife Meghan Markle had endured behind palace walls.

The bestselling book –which followed on from their 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview and their December 2022 Netflix documentary, Harry &Meghan –was quickly dubbed a thinly-veiled attempt to take down the monarchy in one swoop.

But the couple’s plan appeared to backfire as their own reputation plummeted – spelling the start of a 2023 that was blighted by professional and personal loss as their toxic war with the royal family rumbled on.

However in December, Meghan, 42 – who had remained uncharacteristically quiet as she and Harry, 39, dealt with the blows of the past year – assured fans that they had big plans for the year ahead.

Walking the red carpet at the Variety magazine’s Power Of Women event, the Duchess of Sussex said, “We have so many exciting things on the slate. I can’t wait until we can announce them.

And while Prince William and Kate Middleton’s reputation has soared following a series of successful charity events – including Kate’s annual concert – over Christmas, he predicts that 2024 could see the Sussexes become more desperate than ever as they continue to chase their Hollywood dream.

Tom, author of Revenge: Meghan, Harry And The War Between The Windsors, tells Closer, “They’ve got no new income streams, no new companies – everything they’ve attempted to do to relaunch themselves I think in the end has been utterly unsuccessful and has failed.

“There’s nothing of credibility there, but they are putting a good face on it. They have failed in Hollywood. Meghan is clearly desperately trying to find a new role which is why she’s been so silent on the whole.

“That desperation must continue into the New Year and get worse, probably.”

There’s no doubt that 2023 saw huge changes for the Sussexes, who live in Montecito with their two children –Archie, four, and two-year-old Lilibet.
