Kate: ‘i’d love to present this morning!’

The presenter tells Closer about her friendship with TV’s golden girl Alison Hammond, and her roller-coaster start to motherhood

She’s hosted competitions on ITV’s This Morning for the past two years, and now Kate Lawler admits she has her eye on being at the helm of the daytime show.

“I would like to do more at This Morning. I’d never say no to doing something like that,” she tells Closer.

Kate, 43, was crowned winner of the third series of Big Brother back in 2002 –the same series This Morning’s Alison Hammond found fame on.

And as Alison has co-hosted Fridays with Dermot O’Leary since 2021, taking over from Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes, Kate says it would be an “amazing” opportunity to present with her pal.

She smiles, “Obviously Alison and I are really good mates, so it would be amazing to do that with her!”

She adds Alison and Dermot are a great duo, and that she “wouldn’t want to step on their toes”.

After Phillip Schofield left his role as main presenter on the daytime show last May and Holly Willoughby followed suit in October, there’s been a host of guest presenters including Rylan Clark, Cat Deeley, Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle.

Kate explains, “I don’t really know who that job is going to go to, but whoever it is is going to be amazing. Right now, This Morning have just got so many people, and every time I think, ‘They’d make good hosts!’.”
