1 SUE PERKINS: LOST IN ALASKA

OFF ON AN ADVENTURE FRI 9 FEB, 9PM, CHANNEL 5

Over three entertaining parts, Sue Perkins explores the hidden gems of the US state – finding out what it’s like to live in Alaska (“Usually, people have fun here!”) and gets stuck into whatever the residents are up to. As you’d expect from Perkins (who previously travelled to Japan for a BBC travel show), the series is packed with amusing moments. She learns how to survive a bear attack (useful) – and manages a “serious-to-camera” face while “dressed up like a dolly”, wearing a “jingly Russian crown”. Make way for lots of interesting facts, too.

5 DEATH IN PARADISE

100TH EP! SUN 4 FEB, 9PM, BBC1

Kicking off the 13th series of the hugely popular crime drama, this milestone 100th episode sees Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (the marvellous Don Warrington) celebrating 50 years of police service. But when Selwyn leaves the event that’s being held in his honour for a breath of fresh air, someone shoots him and he’s left fighting for his life. Yikes! It’s up to DI Neville Parker (Ralf Little) and his team to find out whodunnit – and why. It’s a classic episode not to be missed!

6 CALL THE MIDWIFE

OH, WE DO LIKE TO BE… SUN 4 FEB, 8PM, BBC1

Summer has arrived and the new Mayor (aka Violet Buckle) has organised her first big event – a day at the seaside! Everyone is very excited and the cast try very hard not to notice the gale-force winds. There’s drama (of course) when Shelagh takes her eye off May, who gets swept out to sea and ends up being hospitalised! This causes a major ordeal for the Turners when Mrs Williams from the Hong Kong Adoption Project turns up wanting answers (rather than the scones fresh out of the oven). Cue a nightmare scenario ahead. Noooo!
