They are the epitome of a TOWIE success story, still reigning as a fan-favourite couple from the show three years after calling it a day and starting their own reality series, Baby Steps. But candid revelations made during Georgia Kousoulou and Tommy Mallet’s popular ITVBe show in 2022 laid bare the issues they had been facing in their relationship, with Georgia admitting that they nearly split up.

ADHD DIAGNOSIS

And ahead of the release of her book, I Wish I Knew, the reality star, 32, tells Closer how Tommy’s ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) diagnosis was the turning point in them getting back on track.

Reflecting on their almost break-up, she says, “Tommy’s diagnosis was the best thing ever because before that, we would’ve split up. Every single case is different, but in Tommy’s, the medication has definitely worked and helped us as a couple. I understand his brain a bit more because I used to think, ‘I just don’t understand your way of thinking at all’. Whereas now I’m like, ‘OK, I get it. That’s ADHD, not him’.”

Georgia shot to stardom when she joined the cast of TOWIE in early 2014 for series 11. When Tommy, 31, got recruited for the reality show months later, the pair immediately hit it off and started dating. Fans followed their romance on the show for seven years, with the couple announcing they were expecting a baby during an emotional Christmas special in 2020, which saw a sweet video projected onto a castle.

They went on to welcome their son Brody in May 2021, and Georgia has never shied away from detailing the reality of motherhood for her social media followers and Baby Steps viewers.

And now she tells Closer of being a mum, “Losing yourself is the weirdest thing. You’ve got to think, you’ve been yourself all those years and it’s all you’ve ever known. Then you have to look after this human and keep them alive. It’s the weirdest feeling and you’re like, ‘I don’t know who I am’. But then you get more confident in yourself and being a mum and then it comes hand in hand.”
