The lucky hopefuls perform on stage in a bid to impress the panel enough to bag a life-changing £250,000 cash prize and a spot on the bill of the Royal Variety Performance. If the golden buzzer is pressed (for exceptionally spectacular acts, or usually anyone who gets Amanda Holden blubbing), contestants get fast-tracked to the semi-finals.
