ACTRESS AND FARMER LIZ FLETCHER, 40, ON HER EATING HABITS

LIZ

I try to shop at farm shops as much as possible and get as much local produce as I can. The fruit and veg just taste so much fresher.

Breakfast is usually scrambled eggs or protein pancakes.

If I’m in a rush, I’ll have toast with jam and butter. Lunch is a chicken salad. When it comes to dinner, I like slow-cooker meals. It could be a joint that just cooks all day. Living on a farm, we have our own meat, so our freezer is always full of loins or joints. Something like that will do dinner for everyone and then it will stretch to lunch the next day for sandwiches.

Any sort of nuts, with raisins. Something else I’ve really been loving is wasabi peas. They’re so spicy that tears will be running down my face, but I can’t stop eating them!

It would have to be a Sunday roast. That’s my signature dish, it’s the only meal that I could prepare for 10 people and make it work and not burn anything. I’ll have all the trimmings like cauliflower cheese, broccoli, honeyroasted carrots and roast potatoes. The only thing that I cheat is the Yorkshire puddings because they’re tricky to get right.

I do have a sweet tooth. I adore apple crumble – if it’s on a restaurant menu, I’ve got to have it.

At the minute I love sparkling water. It’s so refreshing but it isn’t as boring as water. San Pellegrino is my favourite.
