Founders of the fashion company Celtic & Co, Kath and Nick Whitworth love the Cornish lifestyle and escape the pressures of work by taking coastal dog walks, swimming in the sea and meeting friends for good food
Newquay has been our home for over four decades and we couldn’t imagine living anywhere without easy access to the sea. We work hard and appreciate being able to escape the pressures of business quickly. Two of our favourite spots are the exposed Towan and West Pentire Headlands, where you get battered by the wind and can see and hear the waves all around you as seagulls struggle to glide and seals bob about in the swell. The Cornish community seems to be more connected to nature because we spend longer outside in all seasons, be it walking dogs, cycling, surfing, sea swimming or socialising.
We started Celtic & Co in 1990 when we noticed how people struggled to find ‘off duty’ clothes to wear at the weekends. We wanted to recreate that feeling of being relaxed and wrapped up warm after a great day out in the fresh air. We design for style, comfort and longevity in a coastal colour palette and make every item as sustainable as possible.
