Logic pro 11 is finally here!

It’s been a long time coming, but the eleventh iteration of Logic Pro has finally landed with many AI-powered additions

We’ve been waiting for v11 since 2013’s Logic Pro X refined and modernised Apple’s foundational DAW. Now, 10 and a bit years later, the update arrives (rather subtly, if you weren’t keeping abreast of the latest music production news) as a free update that brings with it a salvo of AI-powered enhancements. There’s also a v2 of the iPad incarnation that brings most of the same features as the desktop update.

Leading the way in both editions are new AI-powered features: Bass and Keyboard ‘Session Players’, which do for these instruments what Drummer does for drums; Stem Splitter, which breaks apart stereo material so that you can create remixes; and ChromaGlow, a new effect that promises to add “instant warmth”.

Both Bass Player and Keyboard Player are designed to follow your defined chord progressions, and offer various levels of customisation. You can choose from eight different virtual bassists – these are said to have been trained “in collaboration with today’s best players” (we’d be keen to find out whom) – and control the levels of playing complexity. There are adjustable slide, mute, deadnote and pickup hit parameters, too, and 100 Bass Player loops are provided so that you can hear what it can do.
