ALLIUM BAUBLE

1 Take adried allium stem and cut off the head, leaving a 12cm stalk. Either leave it natural or spray with metallic paint for added sparkle.

2 Tie some hessian string in a secure loop at the base of the stem to hang the bauble with. Add avelvet bow for an elegant finish.

GREENERY GARL AND

1 Cut alength of hessian rope to the length required to dress your mantelpiece or staircase, then tie aloop at each end. Attach aroll of florist’s wire to one of the loops; do not cut the wire off until the garland is complete.

2 Take aselection of foliage and lay it onto the rope, then secure it in place by wrapping the wire around the foliage and rope tightly two or three times. Take more foliage and repeat the process, working your way down the rope and covering the previous foliage base as you go. Be sure to add foliage around the whole rope, not just on one side. When you reach the end, tie the wire on the rope tightly and then cut.

3 Hang, tie or drape your garland where you wish, adding velvet bows secured into the foliage with wire sticks once the garland is in place.

4 For over the fireplace, I like to dress the garland with more seasonal foliage, grass and dried flowers. These can be simply pushed into the garland foliage as you prefer.

CHRISTMAS CENTREPIECE

Begin by taking your pot of choice and filling it with fresh grass moss. Tie aribbon around the pot to decorate.
Make ahole in the centre of the moss deep enough to secure the candle, then put the candle in place.
Start to arrange your seasonal foliage cuttings, pushing the stems into the moss to secure them. Angle the foliage outwards from the candle.
Turn the arrangement as you go, checking that it looks balanced, with no gaps in the greenery. Be mindful when the candle is lit that it does not burn too low or close to the foliage.
