Stuart is feeling inspired by Easter, Mother’s Day, and spring!

Get your friends together for a spring crafternoon!

This month I am obsessed with vibrant colour and the energy of a new season. I am full of the joys of spring and the build-up to one of my favourite celebrations, Easter! I’ve also got lots of lovely plans for celebrating Mother’s Day too, so it’s going to be a very busy and crafty month – perfect!

Right now, my studio looks like there’s been a big, woolly explosion with sample yarns and colour palettes everywhere! I’m working on a new range of my very popular Colours of the World sock yarns for Stylecraft, inspired by my travels in Australia. It’s a tough job, wading through beautiful palettes of yarns to find the colours that really represent the Great Barrier Reef and Uluru, but I’m having a fabulous time all the same.

Mother’s Day is coming up too and I always enjoy the opportunity to spend time with my wonderful mum, Rosemary. I’m working on a special quilt for her, a pretty, feminine concoction of soft rose pink, apricot, lemon yellow, soft lavender, and green. They’re colours that will remind her of her beloved garden in full bloom and banish those winter blues! I’m using a traditional pattern called Dresden Plate, with blocks that look a lot like Mum’s collection of fancy china plates.

I’m also having a crafternoon with some of my friends to thank them for all their love and support. There’ll be lots of cake, tea, and cocktails, plus a table of crafty supplies, and goody bags to take home. As spring is such a great time to freshen up our homes, I’ll provide grapevine bases, plus lots of faux flowers, eggs, and wire-edged ribbons for everyone to make their own lovely door wreaths.
