SNEAK PEEK:TRUE DETECTIVE SERIES FOUR

Sky have offered us a tantalising glimpse of the upcoming fourth series of True Detective. Going under the subtitle Night Country, this run takes place during the long winter night in Ennis, Alaska, when eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. Detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves and dig into the truths that lie buried in the ice. The series will premiere on Sky Atlantic in January.

PETER’S CRIMINAL RECORD

Apple has unveiled its upcoming eight-part thriller Criminal Record, starring Peter Capaldi. He plays Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty, who is drawn into a confrontation over an old murder case. The series touches on issues of race, institutional failures, and the quest to find common ground in a polarised Britain, and will air early next year.

Slow Horses returns

Apple’s award-winning espionage drama Slow Horses returns for a third series next month. Gary Oldman reprises his role as grumpy misanthrope Jackson Lamb, who has to deal with the fallout of an officer’s romantic liaison in Istanbul, which threatens to expose a long-buried MI5 secret. Premieres 1 December.
