KAITLYN COONES ALLEGEDLY GAVE HER BOYFRIEND A DEADLY ULTIMATUM
In a press conference in late November 2023, the local police force in Canton, Ohio, were forced to admit that the body of 53-year-old Nicole Jones will likely never be found. The statement came after Nicole’s son, Jonathan Jones, and his teen lover, Kaitlyn Coones, allegedly confessed to murdering her and throwing her remains in adumpster destined for landfill. With Jones and Coones now in custody, the true horror of Nicole’s final hours have been revealed.
Seventeen-year-old Coones was award of Stark County Children Services and had been living in agroup home when she was reported missing in April 2023. In reality, she had fled to meet her “boyfriend” Jones, 33, who she had been in arelationship with since she was 15. By the time Coones ran off, Jones had been convicted of child endangerment and pandering obscene materials related to his relationship with her. Amonth earlier, Jones pleaded guilty to all charges after it was claimed he had sex with aminor at aSuper 8motel when Coones was around 15 and in the custody of child services. While that encounter took place, he took pictures of the teenager that he intended to distribute.
Asaresult of the convictions, he was barred from any contact with Coones and ordered to wear aGPS tracking device, yet he then took Coones to the home he shared with his mother. Once there, Coones snuck inside so Nicole was not alerted to her presence, and began living in Jones’ bedroom.
Although she was aware of her son’s previous relationship with Coones, Nicole vehemently opposed their union.
It was this that allegedly fuelled Coones to make a chilling ultimatum. On 11 April 2023, she told Jones to kill his ownmotherwithinthenextfive hours. But Jones didn’t comply, even after she told him he could have one extra hour to complete her request. It’s claimed Coones then became enraged.
Lucas County Prosecutor Andrew Lastra alleges, “She went outside, retrieved arock, and when Nicole Jones was standing in front of the refrigerator in the kitchen, unaware of Kaitlyn’s presence, bludgeoned Nicole Jones anumber of times and strangled her.”
Her son allegedly sat in the family living room as the murder was taking place. After Nicole was dead, the couple drove to the local shops and purchased bin bags and tarpaulin. Its claimed they attempted to clean the crime scene, wrapped Nicole’s body in bin bags, and placed it in the car boot. They then dumped her remains in the refuse area of anearby apartment complex.
