A tearful McCommon is led away in cuffs

A lissa McCommon, aprimary school teacher from Tennessee, is currently behind bars awaiting trial after it was alleged that she raped a 12-year-old male student at her home. In the wake of her shock arrest, multiple others also came forward to inform authorities that the teacher had contacted them via social media and invited them to play video games with her.

On 24 August 2023, following information provided to the school district by apupil’s parent, McCommon was suspended from her position at Charger Academy without pay. McCommon, who is married with two children, was then arrested on 8September after news of her suspension reached the authorities, but was released on bail. During that time, she is alleged to have contacted the student to tell him she was pregnant with his child. Text messages retrieved from the victim’s phone read, “I’m going to raise this baby. Ican do this”, “This was amistake, this is my burden”, and “OMG, delete this number, please don’t get me in trouble”. An additional message read, “I’m just really scared, Idon’t even know if it’s you or not. Iwill never text you again. You will never hear from me again, just please don’t say anything.”

On the strength of the new message evidence, McCommon was rearrested on 28 September 2023 and faced further charges of coercion of awitness, aggravated stalking, tampering with evidence and harassment. McCommon’s lawyer Jere Mason disputes the fact that the recording or the text messages originated from his client.
