HOW TO… TAKE YOUR STITCHING TO THE NEXT LEVEL

We have included some more advanced stitching techniques in this project to help you to develop your stitching skills, ready for your next challenge…

BACKSTITCH FOR WORDING: Backstitch adds a crucial element, used for outlines and details. Here all the swatches use backstitch in one strand for the labels – take care carrying thread behind the letters.

FRENCH KNOTS FOR DIMENSION: Take a look at swatches for Bark, Hibernate, Crackling and Baked. They all use French knots in one strand for pinpoint details – you could swap in seed beads if you prefer.

BACKSTITCH IN COLOUR: To give keep our patterns evocative of the season, we’ve worked them in colour and in one strand. We recommend sticking to the key’s suggested thread shades for this design.

We recommend using a plastic clip frame frame to secure your work as it’s less likely to damage any areas you’ve already stitched
