Make Your Mark

These sweet little Initial Heart Cross Stitch Kits are an ideal way to mark a special birthday or occasion! Designed by Jane Chipchase from Super Stitch Studio for Beyond Measure, they have a lovely vintage feel with beautiful alphabet graphics and soft colours. Each kit contains fabric, needle, thread and instructions to create your beautiful stitched initial using counted cross stitch. You could then make the stitching into a card, decoration, pouch or lavender sachet or simply add a frame! Each kit contains: aida fabric in neutral grey colour (approx. 10x13cm), two colours of thread, needle, instructions, stitch chart for design, and have a finished size of approx. 8x4.5cm. www.shopbeyondmeasure.co.uk

FIRM FAVOURITES: JESS PAYNE

In a new series, designers share with us their top stitching essentials

I absolutely love collecting stitchy accessories ( I have a tiny obsession with fun scissors!) but here are my top 5 things I can’t live (or stitch without).

STITCHING BUDDY

Not technically a stitching accessory but something that I can’t live without and that is my dog Barley who makes the best stitching buddy! He is super warm and cozy and is always snuggled by my side.

FLOSS DROPS

I recently discovered these super cool little gadgets called floss drops, they are used to store your threads on (by looping through the bigger section) you can also slide the DMC thread packaging on them so you know exactly what thread number you have in your stash, genius! I love these from Kate Blandford.

Fun and colourful scissors are a must!

SCISSORS

I have an unhealthy obsession with my collection of embroidery scissors and always have at least one pair handy. They must be really sharp but also the more fun (and colourful) the better! These flamingo ones are pretty big but I couldn’t resist! I bought these cute flamingo ones from Lovecrafts.

STITCHY TROLLEY

A stitching trolley is a must if you have an uncontrollable amount of WIPS on the go (like me!) I use the different areas for hoops, projects and materials. The top section is also great for turning into a tea and snack trolley! I purchased mine from Hobbycraft and it's well worth it.

TOTE BAG

I love keeping my projects in a tote bag, as they are portable and it’s easy to store all my current WIPS without getting everything mixed up. This tote is one of my favourite ones that I designed as bright and colourful but also practical.
