YOUR COMPLETE CHRISTMAS TOWN SCENE

In this issue we are giving you the second part of our Christmas Town design – the middle section. Next issue (issue 404) we will publish the right of the chart. Use our wall hanging instructions once all your stitching from all three issues is complete. Never miss an issue! Check out our latest subscription offer on page 4. Make a… wall hanger

Step 1

START stitching with your fabric turned landscape. Part 1 of the design, was in the last issue November 402, this is the left section of the design. Fold your fabric into three, and find the centre point of this section. Follow the key for the number of strands for each stitch. Part 2 is in this issue (issue 403), and should be stitched in the middle section of the fabric, to the right of Part 1.

Step 2

MAKE four hanging loops out of the cotton fabric. Fold each one in half lengthways bringing the raw edges together. Stitch down the seam. Trim off the excess and turn through to the right side. Press, with the seam at the centre back. Fold each one in half bringing the raw edges together.

Step 3

PLACE your aida right-sides together with your backing fabric. Place on a flat surface and smooth out any creases. Pin the layers together.

Step 4

PLACE the hanging loops equally spaced across the top of the stitching. The folded ends needs to be inside the layers, with the cut ends outside the seam allowance line. Pin in place and then tack the layers together. Cut away some of the excess fabric outside the seam allowance to make it less bulky and easier to stitch.

Step 5

WITH the back of the cross stitching facing upwards, and leaving 2cm (¾in) of unstitched aida around the stitching, stitch around the design leaving a gap at the bottom for turning.

Step 6

CUT away
