MINDFULNESS MANDALA – PART 4

Welcome to our new Stitch-A-Long for 2024. Designer Amanda Butler has created an amazing ‘Mandala’ SAL – which you can turn into a cushion or use as a wall hanging. The design is packed with wonderful mindful sayings, which will help you to achieve a sense of calm by focusing your awareness on the present moment as you make each stitch!

MANDALA SAL

In the last issue of CrossStitcher (March 406) we gave you the third part of the Mandala, the top left. This should be stitched in the top left corner, using the arrows for position. In this issue, April, the numbers above and down the left-hand side of the chart have changed and show the top middle section of the design. We have also left a small part of the top left section to help with the position. Over the coming months the numbers will change as we move around the design expanding and contracting as we change position. The complete chart is 230 squares wide and deep.

THE CHART

EACH square on the chart represents a single cross stitch. Start from the centre of the design and your fabric. The centre of our charts are indicated by arrows at the designs’ edges. To find your fabric’s centre, fold it in half and into quarters.

This is the complete key for the sampler, for you to buy all the stranded cotton colours needed for the entire design at one time

THE KEY

ALL THE symbols that appear on the chart are listed in the key with their corresponding thread codes beside them. The key also tells you the different stitches used in the design. The closest column of thread codes listed next to the chart symbols is the thread brand that’s used in the design. Similar colour matches are listed alongside it. Where no close match can be found, you may have to use a different brand of thread for that shade.
