We’ve challenged three designers to rustle up some fab signs for Father’s Day, but only using the materials that we gave them…

Father’s Day in 2024 falls on Sunday, 16 June in the UK! There’s nothing like a hand-stitched gift to make Dad's day, so we asked our three designers this month to create a sign for Dad. They were given seven specific shades of stranded cotton to use, and they had to bear in mind that the sign would be presented using a magnetic hanger. Take a look at their fun results below – we’ve featured a chart for each one so you can stitch your favourite! We hope this will inspire you to join in too – turn the page to see what our challenge will be for July – we’ve listed everything you need to take part.

THE CHALLENGE

• White aida fabric

• 7 shades of DMC stranded cotton (shown above)

• Magnetic hanger, 13cm wide

THE RULES

• Create a sign for Father’s Day presented in a magnetic hanger

• The design should be no larger than 56 x 56 stitches

• Only the materials above can be used

• Be creative as possible!

FIONA CROUCH… WHAT A FUNGI!

I wanted to do something very jolly for this challenge, to show all the lovely dads out there just how much they are appreciated. This can be hung somewhere as a permanent reminder of the good times you have together.”

All the materials our designers used for this challenge are available to order from www.willowfabrics.com
