Completely Hooked

star letter

After my cancer diagnosis at Christmas, my friends rallied around and put together a care package full of practical things, treats and the February edition of CrossStitcher. I’m a keen crafter but have never tried cross stitch. Well, I’m hooked! It has been so mindful, and I’ve already completed two projects. I love the magazine, all the little tips, beautiful designs and clear instructions and I’m looking forward to my next project.

Here is a photo of my first creation, the sweet little fox (issue 405). I gave it to my mum for Mother’s Day and she loves it.

Thank you so much for inspiring me. Best wishes,

Jo Rough, by email

It’s wonderful to hear that CrossStitcher has helped you so much over the last few months, Jo. Welcome to our cross stitch world where, as you’ve discovered, it’s hard to put your needle down!

Puppy Love

The dog from issue 407 looks exactly like my son’s dog, which is black and grey. And I love colours, so it was a lot of fun to make!

Bright & Cheery

I’m really enjoying the CrossStitcher mag SAL. I’m normally more into pastel coloured designs but the bright colours just pulled me in. It’s such a bright and cheery design. And the mindfulness wording just finishes it off nicely. I look forward to each instalment. It’s a large design, which I may not have tackled as a full design, but having it broken down into easier-to-manage portions makes this project less of a challenge and much more doable. It’s definitely going up on my craft room wall at the end of the year!

READER TIP Light up your stitching"

If you're using glow-in-the-dark thread, don't forget it will only glow after being exposed to light. To activate the glowing effect, hold your project up to a light source for a few minutes before turning off the lights. You can also try using a black light or UV torch to charge the thread. The glow-in-the-dark effect will be brightest
