Our December issue includes a feature on the sort of vehicle we know some of you think is too new to be appearing in Custom Car. James Dean Evans’ Chevy S10 SS is only 27 years old, after all. Barely out of warranty. But before you throw up your hands in horror, check it out. It might not be prewar, or even postwar (unless you’re talking about Desert Storm), but it’s every inch a racer and every inch a custom car… If you prefer ‘em more traditional, anyway, Mick Tebbs’ ’32 roadster is one of the most iconic Deuces in the country. It was on the cover of Custom Car just over 40 years ago, and now here it is again. It’s been a hell of a journey… Kim Leonard’s journey to Model A ownership has been something to behold, too. And you can behold it in this issue – as you can the history of the Stones racing team, whose exploits in the 1970s have recently been rewarded with a place in the Hall of Fame. Talking of racing, the story of the Euro Finals is a poignant one, a tale of triumph and tragedy alike. But it came to a history-making climax, as Eric Teboul climbed aboard his rocket-powered drag bike for one last run before retirement… There’s a host of other events in this issue too, including the Hot Rod Hayride, the Hindenberg pre-’59 Dirt Track Races and more.
