There’s a trio of beautiful vehicles in Custom Car this month. All very different, but each is a head-turner in its own way. The ’55 Coupe de Ville recently completed by Burnham Autos is one of the most graceful postwars you’ll ever see. And our main cover car is a ’41 Ford pick-up from the team at Valley Gas whose owner asked for ‘a very pretty truck’ – and got exactly that, and then some. This month in Readers’ Rods, meanwhile, is something very different indeed. A Ford Prefect pick-up, would you believe. No, not the Aussie version: this one was created in Cumbria – and the story behind it is that of a true, old-school car builder. There was no shortage of those on the NSRA’s Spring Rumbles, and this month includes the second instalment in our coverage of the nationwide runs. Our Doorslammers report is here too, along with events including the triumphant return of Run to the Sun and this year’s BHP Performance Show – including a call for more hot rods next year.
