Digital Camera readers show how they’ve been getting creative, submitting images across a range of genres

1 ‘The Roaches’ 1 by Lee Richards

“A beautiful morning at The Roaches in the Peak District with perfect light shining over the rock formations at Hen Cloud. I was hoping for a cloud inversion in the morning as I’d just missed one here on the previous day. Although we didn’t get an inversion, there was a slight low mist in the distance. The gorgeous glow from the early morning sun, the light separation and the numerous triangular shapes throughout made this a beautifully satisfying occasion and a very pleasing image.”

Digital Camera says: This has all the key attributes of a powerful landscape image – beautiful light, strong composition, leading lines and perfect exposure.

2 ‘Throwing a Pot’ by William F Wood

“I took the following photo on a trip to Turkey. The potter was throwing a pot in a low-light situation – this resulted in a five-second exposure to catch his movements, which produced this abstract image.”

Digital Camera says: A beautiful shot, William! You have really captured the warmth and creativity of the scene. The exposure duration feels just right, allowing viewers to understand what’s going on in the photo.

Digital Camera says: We enjoyed the colour choice here by Sarah – the purple light and the grey surface give the image a futuristic-looking finish.

4 ‘April showers and cherry blossom’ by Joy Swarbrick

“This was shot with my Sony A6000 and 90mm Sony f/2.8 macro lens. I wanted to catch the beauty of the water droplets on the cherry tree in the light but persistent rainfall.”

Digital Camera says: Extremely well executed, with precise focus work. You must have been really pleased to capture this, Joy.

5 ‘Wipper Kotten, Solingen’ 5 by Michael Tobias

“My ambition was to show this wellknown subject from a new angle, so I went knee-deep into the water of Germany’s Wupper River with my tripod and camera. I used an ND 1000 filter to provide the motion blur in the image.”

Digital Camera says: Michael’s dedication to getting t
